Timothy Carter Glass Sculpture
DescriptionTim’s interest lies in the refractive, reflective and structural properties of glass; how it can be manipulated and decorated to affect the passage of light and colour through it.
The work is formed using a wide variety of techniques and processes, to produce a range of work, which is both sculptural and functional, with an emphasis on design, geometry and construction - .
Tim Carter graduated from Chelsea College of Art and Design in 1992, where he studied Public Art.
Tim specialised in Architectural Glass and Stained Glass and also gained experience in a variety of other disciplines such as mural painting, mosaic, ceramics and textiles.
During and after leaving Chelsea College Tim worked at the studio of glass and steel sculptor Danny Lane, helping work on and install the glass balustrade on the staircase and mezzanine of the main gallery at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London.
Since leaving London Tim has gained further experience working in wood, steel fabrication and engineering workshops.
Tim is based in Leicestershire and has continued to work with glass and other materials such as steel, stainless steel, other non-ferrous metals, wood, acrylic and slate.
Tim designs, manufactures, restores and installs traditional and contemporary stained glass and leaded-light windows and also designs and produces a range of decorative and functional glass wall-pieces, mirrors, lighting and sculptures - for private, public and corporate; buildings, gardens, courtyards and landscapes.
He has designed and manufactured numerous prestigious presentation award pieces for Roll-Royce PLC.
If you are interested in any Tim’s work, would like to purchase something or commission him for a bespoke piece of artwork, then he would be delighted to hear from you and offer free consultation, advice or an estimate.
