Green Edge Garden Design
Welcome to Green Edge Garden Design
At Green Edge we use a sound knowledge of plants combined with a strong creative ability to design stunning gardens that fit your lifestyle needs.
Why have your garden designed?
Our work covers large and small gardens. Some clients require low maintenance designs while others wish for planting schemes demanding more attention.
Our designs incorporate different styles and quantities of hard landscaping work in accordance with clients' wishes and the size of their budget.
We work closely with our clients to ensure that their needs and aspirations are always achieved in their new garden design.
Green Edge Garden Design is an Edinburgh-based company and we work with some of the best horticulturists and landscapers in Scotland. Our Director and Garden Designer, Rebecca Govier has trained and worked at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (RBGE) and has completed the Royal Horticultural Society General Certificate in Horticulture. As an expert and experienced gardener, Rebecca also writes for a number of journals including a monthly column called “Plant Sense” for Scotland on Sunday and articles for Gardens Monthly magazine (www.gardening.co.uk) and Homes & Interiors Scotland. She is also one of the editors of the RBGE Catalogue of Plants 2001 .
Projects by Green Edge have been featured in both Scotland on Sunday's “At Home” and Homes Scotland magazine .
We create individually tailored gardens that embrace contemporary ideas while also reflecting more traditional elements of good garden design.
Green Edge offers:
We can design a wide variety of projects including self contained water features, natural stone paving, bespoke timber structures, high quality lawns, specimen planting and pond construction.
We are a committed, approachable and professionally trained team, who are receptive to your garden design ideas. Our designs are individual and imaginative, yet maintenance-friendly, and are executed to a high standard.
Garden designs tend to have a value starting from £300 upwards with a minimum landscaping value of £3,000.
What should you consider before getting your garden designed?:
What do you want from your garden?
You need to think about who your garden is for. Is it for all the members of your family? If you have children, would you like a space dedicated to entertaining friends close to your home, and screened from a purpose built children's play area? Perhaps seasonal interest and colour are important for those parts of the garden viewed from your home.
How much time do you want to spend maintaining your garden?
The amount of time you can devote to your garden will affect the choice of plantings and therefore the levels of maintenance necessary to keep your garden looking at its best.
Which features in your current garden do you want to remove or retain?
Which plants, structures and hard landscaping features you wish to remove or retain in your garden's design will greatly influence your project's costs.
What budget are you thinking of?
We consider designing any size of garden, but the minimum fee for garden design is generally £300. The only limiting factor for us is your budget. The cost of your project will be greatly influenced by the complexity of your garden design, its size, the number of levels involved, the amount of hard landscaping required, and the type and density of your plantings. We ask clients to provide an indicative budget so we know how much hard and soft landscaping you can afford in your design.
