The Hillier ‘Sail for Gold’ Garden wins Chelsea Gold
Romsey’s Hillier Nurseries have won Gold at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show for their Garden inspired by the achievements of the Skandia Team GBR sailors.
Says Andrew McIndoe, the Hillier Chelsea designer and Deputy Managing Director: “We are thrilled to win Gold this year. At Hillier, we never ever take Gold for granted, even though this is our 63rd! This year’s result is particularly important for us, as the garden was inspired by the ‘Sail for Gold’ mantra of Skandia Team GBR, the British sailing team. I hope that their association with the Hillier Gold will give them that extra boost later this summer. May they ‘Sail for Gold’!”
Says Ben Ainslie, twice Olympic Gold medal winner: “Congratulations to Hillier Nurseries! We were honoured to have inspired their garden this year. What a legacy of success – let’s hope some of it rubs off on the British sailors later this year. ”
Says Tim Sewell, Skandia’s Sponsorship Manager: “We are delighted that our first ever sponsorship of a Chelsea garden has resulted in a Gold medal. Hillier have proven to be ideal partners to highlight British success, particularly in a year when our sailors are totally focussed on winning medals for Britain.”
