Marcus Henke Sculpture
________________________________________

Born to artistic parents, father a sculptor and teacher and mother a painter, Marcus took an interest in Art at an early age, making things in clay particularly appealed. After an A level in Art, Marcus did a Foundation Course at West Surrey College of Art and Design and from 1976 to 1979 , a degree course in Sculpture at Newcastle upon Tyne. It was there that Marcus started to specialise in figurative sculptures. These were often life-size, in clay and then casting in either resin, plaster and sometimes bronze.

An interest developed in working metal and after leaving college he decided to set up a blacksmiths forge. Commissions were undertaken of a practical as well as of an artistic nature. In 1993 Marcus moved up to Kington and set up a forge and studio with an increasing emphasis on sculpture.
