Description

This bizarre structure, in the shape of a pineapple, was built in 1761 as a garden retreat. The policies are now an oasis for wildlife.

Take a walk in the walled garden, where an orchard of crab-apple trees has been planted. Or enjoy a peaceful walk around the pond and through the surrounding woodland. There is an all-ability path which leads from the car park to a pond viewing platform, where, if you are lucky, you may catch a glimpse of the rare great crested newt.

The Trust maintains the gardens and policies, and the building is leased to the Landmark Trust.

Acquisition details
Given with 6.5ha of gardens and policies in 1974 by the Countess of Perth. Acceptance was made possible by the co-operation of the Landmark Trust, which has leased and restored the building for short-term lets
