Description

Polesden Lacey

House with opulent Edwardian interiors, set in beautiful downland countryside

In an exceptional setting on the North Downs, this Regency house was extensively remodelled in 1906-9 by the Hon. Mrs Ronald Greville, a well-known Edwardian hostess. Her collection of fine paintings, furniture, porcelain and silver is displayed in the reception rooms and galleries, as it was at the time of her celebrated house parties. There are extensive grounds, a walled rose garden, lawns and landscape walks through part of the 560ha (1,400-acre) estate. The future King George VI and Queen Elizabeth spent part of their honeymoon here in 1923

Come and see 15,000 tulips burst into flower from late April. Last year 45,000 people enjoyed the flowers kindly donated by de Jager, and the display is set to be dazzling again. Our Garden and Countryside Manager, Simon Akeroyd said: ‘Last spring we had an amazing display and this year’s could be even better, lasting for two or three weeks from late April’.
