Description

The Growing & Showing Marquee will host the flower-filled Floral Art competition from Tuesday 3rd – Thursday 5th. It will then be transformed into an edible feast for the weekend when Fruit & Vegetables take over for Saturday 7th – Sunday 8th, when the marquee will be supported by the New Covent Garden Food Co, filling the marquee with seasonal produce.

Floral Art Competition (3-5 July)
From Tuesday 3rd to Thursday 5th July, the Surrey area of the National Association of Flower Arranging Societies (NAFAS) is organising an extensive display of flower arrangements, ranging from the traditional to the modern, from dozens of exhibitors. There are a number of classes in the competition under the theme ‘Dance to the Music’ including;

Class 1 – Show Time; Class 2 – Ballroom Elegance; Class 3 – All That Jazz; Class 4 – Nocturne; Class 5 – Capriccioso; Class 6 – Crescendo; Class 7 – Line Dancing; Class 8 – Pirouette; Class 9 – Arabesque; Class 10 – Calypso; Class 11 – Pole Dancing; Class 12 – Rhythm and Blues.

Fruit & Vegetables (7-8 July)
In partnership with New Covent Garden Food Co. (7-8 July)

Alongside the exhibitors the gardeners at RHS Garden Wisley will be recreating the garden’s 3x3m vegetable plot – the inspiration point for the year long RHS Grow Your Own Veg Campaign. The plot, based on the RHS Garden Harlow Carr plot featured in the RHS/BBC TV programme ‘Grow Your Own Veg’, aims to demonstrate how to get the most produce out of a small space. Also in the marquee will be an amateur growers’ Summer Fruit & Vegetable Competition open to anyone who grows fruit or vegetables in gardens or allotments (closing date for competition applications: 29th June 2007). Amateurs will be competing in a number of categories of seasonal fruits, vegetables and herbs. New Covent Garden Food Co. will be offering a special ‘Most Meritorious Dish of Vegetables’ prize for the best vegetable dish, as well as offering tastings of their products in the marquee.
