Specialist Plant Fairs April to September 2010

Flower Power Fairs - What is a specialist plant fair?
Flower Power Fairs brings together enthusiastic plant growers from all over the North of England and introduces them to you, the discerning customer who is looking for unusual, rare, quirky, but above all, good quality and reasonably priced plants. I have nurseries, which specialise in all sorts of plants from the outrageous to the exotic, cacti to delphiniums and with a whole host of plant species in-between.
The plant nurseries are passionate plants people who are delighted to share their knowledge with you and will give you expert advice on how to get the best out of your new plants.
You will also find many plants not usually available at retail outlets and garden centres and many cottage garden favourites and herbaceous perennials that are no longer sold at these places.
Entry to the fairs is £2, (unless stated otherwise) so much cheaper than many of the larger garden shows, but bringing you the same quality and diversity. Many venues offer you free entry into their gardens, or you may wish to visit the Hall or House too (extra admission).
And the fairs offer you first class catering and an inspirational venue! So come along and enjoy the friendly atmosphere of a Flower Power Plant Fair.
• Entry normally £2.00 with refreshments on site (compare that to a day out at one of the big flower shows!) • Personal attention and advice from the grower • Plants not normally sold at retail outlets • Inspirational venues • Free parking (except Skipton Castle) • Friendly, peaceful gardens and parks to wander through • A warm welcome! • And hopefully, money left over for another visit to Flower Power Fairs.
After a very successful year, I am now delighted to announce the new dates and new venues for the 2010 FLOWER POWER FAIRS.
There are several old favourites including Newburgh Priory, Duncombe Park, Heaton Park, Jodrell Bank and Skipton Castle and of course last year's new houses - Ripley Castle and Sutton Park. However, I have changed some of the dates (Jodrell Bank just in case Andy Murray gets into the Wimbledon final!) and Skipton Castle due to the Gala, so please double check before setting out. In 2010, I am introducing SIX NEW VENUES. I have two very special private gardens to offer you this year, both a delight and sure to be very popular, one in North Yorkshire at Wytherstone House, Pockley and the other in Staffordshire in the little village of Admaston, between Rugeley and Stafford, overlooking Blithfield Reservoir. Both gardens are a delight and well worth a visit and you gain free entry to both when you visit the Plant Fair.
Flower Power goes down to Lincolnshire for the first time to the wonderful Tudor mansion of Doddington Hall near Lincoln on Sunday 23 May before returning to Yorkshire on the following Bank Holiday Sunday 30 May. Constable Burton Hall, a beautiful house (designed by John Carr of York) and gardens near Leyburn in Wensleydale are opening their gardens for Flower Power.
The little known but delightful Grade I Lancashire house, Lytham Hall, another of John Carr's designs and said to be one of his greatest, is another new venue for us where visitors will be able to wander through the grounds and also visit the house. Lytham St Annes is also beside the sea so a hearty walk along the beach is also recommended that day.
The following weekend Flower Power travels down to Derbyshire and to delightful Osmaston Park, near Ashbourne. The Hall was demolished in the last century but the park remains and the fair will be held on the footprint of the old house, overlooking the lake. The park is not normally open to the public.
All the fairs open from 10am - 4pm and many include entry to gardens and grounds. Refreshments and toilet facilities are always close by and all sites give disabled access. Most venues allow dogs on leads, but if you are unsure, just drop me a line and I'll give you further details about that, or anything else you want to know. All venues offer FREE PARKING (with Skipton Castle being the exception).
If you would like to be kept up to date with events and nurseries in attendance, or if you have any queries, please complete the form.
I look forward to welcoming new and familiar faces to Flower Power Fairs in 2010. Meanwhile, happy gardening
