A Small Courtyard Garden
The aim of this Gold medal winning modern courtyard garden was to showcase ideas which visitors could then use in their own gardens at home. The courtyard measured only 20ft x 20ft (6.2 x 6.2m). The mixed planting scheme included vegetables, herbs and grasses as well as cottage style perennials edging the gravelled area beyond the raised deck. The abstract water feature by sculptor Rebecca Buck represents a phoenix rising and is set over cobbles surrounded by ferns and penstemons. A living willow trellis provided an interesting background to the garden providing year round interest. Other sculptures were by the same sculptor, while the rustic bird table added the finishing touches to the garden.
