Description
Sow seeds of thought for Africa this winter
Take part in the 2006 Send a Cow National Organic Bag Garden Competition

As we enter spring why not put some colour back into your life, and the life of a poor African farmer, by preparing for the 2006 Send a Cow National Organic Bag Garden Competition.

For African farmers living on small plots of land in drought-prone areas, the simple but ingenious design of an organic Bag Garden significantly increases the amount of vegetables that can be grown in a small space and with little water.

One such farmer is Godfrey Magolo. “The Bag Gardens have helped us introduce many new vegetables such as cabbage, aubergines, spinach and herbs.  We can now pick food whenever we want, we are now healthy and we no longer struggle to feed the family.”

By taking part in the 2006 Send a Cow National Organic Bag Garden Competition you can experience the joy of designing a Bag Garden with a difference - whilst helping Send a Cow raise funds and generate awareness of how organic gardening practices can help African farmers transform their lives.

So, download an entry form from the Send a Cow website
www.sendacow.org.uk/baggarden.pdf and start sowing your seeds now.

Deadline for entries is 31st July 2006 and the finals will take place at the National Amateur Gardening Show, 1-3 September. The Send a Cow Organic Bag Garden Competition is sponsored by Amateur Gardening Magazine and the Eden Project.
