Gardening Greats at the 2008 RHS Chelsea Flower Show

Gardening Greats at the 2008 RHS Chelsea Flower Show

The 2008 RHS Chelsea Flower Show (20-24 May), sponsored by Marshalls, promises to be a truly magnificent spectacle. From 41 Show Garden applications, 21 have been selected, and the final line up consists of some of the world’s best garden designers. Tickets to the show are now on sale. Book online at www.rhs.org.uk/flowershows, or call 0870 247 1223.

The RHS Chelsea Flower Show in May 2008 will play host to a number of true gardening greats. Arabella Lennox-Boyd will return to the show after eight years with a garden for The Daily Telegraph. Christopher Bradley-Hole has designed a contemporary and abstract interpretation of a classical garden for Spink Property. Laurent-Perrier has commissioned Tom Stuart Smith, who will be creating a Show Garden of elegant understatement, and Andy Sturgeon will be returning to the show in 2008 with a garden for Cancer Research UK.

The show will also see the return of several visitor favourites, including Diarmuid Gavin with An Art Deco Hotel Garden, and Cleve West with a garden for BUPA which is designed to explore how a garden can enhance a person’s well-being.

Up and coming talent at the show includes Robert Myers, who was awarded a Gold for his first Show Garden last year. Robert has designed a luxurious garden, with dappled shade, lush planting and water canals for Cadogan Estates. Sarah Price will also be returning to the show with her first Show Garden which will display a balance between traditional and modern sensibilities, and was designed for QVC. Another “one to watch” is designer Tomaso, who will be creating an organic agrarian garden, linking a green wheat field, with a sheltered potager, for Daylesford Organic.

Vibrant displays from some of the world’s best nurseries and growers, and small gardens, designed to make the most of small spaces, will also provide visitors with a wealth of inspiration. On top of all this, visitors can pick up a wide range of horticultural sundries and many new gardening products will make their debut at the show.
