You can grow your own fruit and veg, whatever the size of your garden. Garden suppliers have cottoned on to the fact that we don’t all have acres of space, and have come up with a few ideas to make life easier for those of us who have a mini allotment on the patio. First, look out for varieties especially made for growing in containers – there are wonderful tiny tomatoes that tumble out of hanging baskets (children love them!), and strawberries can be grown the same way. Potato barrels and bags mean you don't even need a patch of earth to nurture some fabulous salad potatoes, just when they’re at their most expensive in the shops.
