Lucy Smith is making her mark in the world of decorative garden sculpture with a range of fountains, wall plaques and free standing creatures in glazed fired clay which provide an attractive alternative to the concrete figures which occupy the sales yards of most garden centres and D.I.Y. stores.

After graduating from Middlesex Polytecnic in 1985 Lucy initially worked in stone carving and took on various projects including: memorial stones, a range of busts and a fountain made from a huge single block of Portland stone.

As the daughter of a garden designer, Lucy grew up with the concept of the garden being a forum for expressing artistic ideas and displaying works of art. The first garden fountain that Lucy produced was a wall-mounted lizard, spurting water; commissioned by her father for his garden. This fountain has subsequently appeared as an illustration in several books, including Rosemary Verey's: Secret Gardens, and Francesca Greenoak's: Water Features for the Small Garden. It was then spotted by Geoff Hamilton who featured it in Paradise Gardens, his last T.V. film before his untimely death. Since that time Lucy has recieved considerable press interest, including extensive print coverage and television appearances on: Collectors Lot and Garden Force, for full press details click here.
