London Garden Designer by Sara Jane Rothwell
Welcome to The London Garden Designer, a friendly, personalised garden design company set up by qualified and experienced garden designer Sara Jane Rothwell.

However large or small your outdoor space, I work with you to create a distinctive, imaginative yet practical garden to suit your needs and budget, listening carefully to your requirements, ideas and wishes. I then apply my knowledge and expertise to create a garden that surpasses your expectations.

Sara Jane trained in Horticulture and Garden Design and brings to her gardens a further 11 years design experience from her work in Film and Theatre.

The outdoor spaces she designs are characterised by her passion for plants and inventive use of hard landscape materials. This combines with her meticulous attention to detail to create atmospheric gardens that are distinctive yet practical.

In 2006 Sara Jane became a registered member of the Society of Garden designers (MSGD), the only professional body in the UK dedicated to maintaining and promoting standards of professionalism within the field of garden design. She is also honoured to have received 2 prestigious BALI design awards in 2005 and 2006.

London Garden Designer Projects
As you will see from the selection of projects below, I have been lucky enough to design for a wide range of garden spaces. Each garden is totally individual and has been designed to reflect the lifestyle, tastes and needs of its owner. I do not limit my garden designs to a particular style as everybody has different requirements and generally no 2 gardens are the same.

The important issue is that you are able to use your outdoor space as you want.

Project 1 - Georgian Grace
A front and rear garden in Islington is transformed.

Project 2 – Suburban Serenity
A sloping garden in Rickmansworth proves a challenge.

Project 3 – A Small Roof Terrace
A roof garden on top of a contemporary house in Notting hill.

Project 4 – A Rural Refuge
A family garden for all to enjoy is created in Somerset.

Project 5 – A Contemporary Courtyard
A dark basement garden turns into a stunning courtyard for entertaining.

Project 6 – Planting Paradise
A long, difficult and narrow site turns into a planting and wildlife haven.

Project 7 – Corporate Conservation
An attractive pond with a cascading water feature is the focal point in this wonderful garden built for the staff of a pharmaceutical company.

Project 8 – Cottage Charm
Prairie style planting influenced the garden design for this Thatched Cottage.
