John Nash is a specialist garden designer and landscaper. He studied at Capel Manor and is a fully qualified member of the Society of Garden Designers and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

Background
John’s creative background as an architectural designer enables him to design sensitive gardens that complement the environment.

Design Philosophy
His designs will try to draw on elements from the internal and external style of the house and its surroundings so that the transition can be gradual. Style leans towards contemporary but his versatility enables him to be equally comfortable with traditional styles often drawing on classic elements. He is adept at finding solutions for spaces and creating harmony between hard landscaping and plants.
Every garden is unique and John’s innovative expertise enables the best of unforeseen opportunities to be realised that give it "an edge" without it being stereotyped or clichéd.

Clients’ needs are paramount and the design is tailored to suit. A garden is an open space to be enjoyed for leisure, relaxation, recreation, interest and importantly, should be stimulating and aesthetically pleasing.

Service
The Practice’s professional approach and service starts with an initial consultation when the Client’s needs are discussed. Thereafter a full survey of the garden is carried out, followed by a preliminary design which is discussed and agreed with the Client and which may include lighting and irrigation. Detailed drawings are then prepared together with a planting plan and a Specification written. Competitive tenders can then be invited from specialist contractors and a contract prepared. The works are monitored and costs agreed. If required, a maintenance programme will be prepared. Fees are agreed based on a percentage of the cost of the works or on a time basis. In addition, John’s practice can provide a "lump sum" ‘all-in’ design and build service if so required.

As well as private commissions, projects for communal gardens and corporate landscaping projects are also undertaken.

Gardens
The range of gardens the Practice serves extends from small town courtyards to large country gardens. Styles, which are generally of a contemporary nature, may have influences from the Mediterranean, Japan, Morocco or Europe and can be Classical. Modern, Cottage or Formal. Whatever it is, it will be unique and specifically tailored to suit both Client and the environment.
