Description
The sense of movement and dynamics
within sculpture provides it with life and vitality and whilst remaining
true to the use of simple, raw materials, my aim is to capture this.
The contrasting and concurrent methods I am using provide different
challenges due to the nature of the materials and their own
restrictions. I am exploring the use of layers, light reflection with
hard or textured edges to create a sense of fluidity. My 'Blown Away' series, highlighted by 'You blew Me Away' is in response to the strong emotions that affect us all at key points in our lives, the physical impact they have on our bodies and the influence external or environmental forces whilst in this state. I am currently constructing a further three within this series, 'Resilience' focusing our own unexpected strength in difficult times enabling us to remain constant and true, 'From me to You' showing the deep and direct connection between our inner selves and finally 'Information overload' conveying the effects of the constant bombardment of information in our daily lives. ![]() You blew me away ![]() Latest piece in the "Blown Away" series - Resilience, a sculpture of our time where we remain strong when our worlds around us are blown away Mild Steel Scrap Metal 170cm x 850cm x 50cm - enquire ![]() ![]() Latest works The bronze dance figures express organic forms as tensile elements and are inspired by the dynamic forms of contemporary dancers. By using flexible, sinuous materials to create the original model, the dancers raw and exposed movement is conveyed and by leaving out a lot of mass within the sculpture and exposing wires outside of the main form, a vision of movement is created - where the limb may have been or the extremes of a dancer’s movement contained within that pose. ![]() Dance sculptures ![]() Bronzes - Barcelona Tango - Limited Edition of 9 - 85cm x 65cm x 25cm ![]() Commissions - We three - Dance trio, all three moving independently Aluminium wire and epoxy resin 350cm x 200cm x 200cm exhibitions: LATEST EXHIBITIONS FOR PENNY HARDY: 2014: Penny Hardy - Sculplture at Doddington Hall Doddington Hall and Gardens 8/2/2014 to 9/7/2014 10 am to 5.00 pm The second Sculpture at Doddington Exhibition, following on from the great success of the inaugural exhibition of 2012.
