Moisture lovers are a hugely varied group of plants containing both colourful flowers, contrasting foliage and great wildlife interest.

Most are herbaceous, dying back in the winter and many form fantastic architectural specimens adding bold shape and structure to a border.

True giants exist within the group, massive Gunneras are by far the largest, but mature clumps of Ligularia, Hosta and Astilboides make an impressive display. Don’t be put of by these giants amongst plants, even a small area of moist soil can become home to a select group of perennials, dainty Primulas, Marsh Marigolds, Irises, and Polygonatum’s will thrive.
