Wykeham Mature Plants
Time is rarely on one's side, nevermore so than when a mature effect of shrubs and trees is required in an open garden or landscape.
Wykeham Instants offers the ideal solution for transforming an open space. At Wykeham you really can buy time – with "mature" trees and shrubs of up to 20 years old – and the immediate effect our professional and careful long-term production brings.
Buying direct from our production nursery offers you the following advantages:
Innovative and Traditional Skills
Set in a walled garden at Wykeham Abbey, Wykeham Instants combines innovation with traditional horticultural skills to create an effect of maturity from trees, shrubs and conifers of between 5 and 20 years old.
An Extensive Range to Choose From
More than 5,500 container-grown plants from ground-cover to semi-mature trees up to 6 metres high are immediately available throughout the year for you to choose from.
For traditional seasonal choice for planting between November and March some further 20,000 plants are available from our 100 acres of field nurseries.
Design and Planting
Good planning, design and selection are a vital part of a successful planting scheme. To support our quality stock production Wykeham Instants design and planting services are available to both private and commercial clients.
Conifers – Classic
A wide range of ornamental conifers from Abies to Tsuga is available together with material suitable for screening and/or large hedging purposes in sizes up to five metres tall.
A range of pre trimmed hedges and topiary including Box, Beech, Hornbeam, Privit, Holly, Thorn and Yews give the appearance of an established hedge after planting.
We also produce a range of ornamental shrubs suitable for more informal and flowering hedges and screens.
Wykeham Mature Plants have a wide range of shrubs selected for all year round interest and all produced in larger than normal sizes from 1 metre to 3.5 metres high to create an effect of maturity in an instant.
Trees – Specimens
Wykeham Mature Plants produce an excellent range of larger trees for immediate effect with trees up to six metres tall available from stock.
These days due to advancements in growing techniques most of our trees are available container grown which has a number of advantages:-
The really big root balled trees are very heavy (about one tonne each), and have to be mechanically handled at all times so we recommend using our planting service.
Wykeham Instants contract growing service is the ideal way to meet your needs for exactly the right quantity and quality of trees and shrubs, precisely when you want them. Contract growing for planting schemes of all sizes and time-spans is available on request.
Due to the size and weight of the plants we supply, please bear in mind any limitations to access by lorry before confirming delivery arrangements.
Please also take into account any considerations regarding handling and moving the stock once it has been delivered as delivery is ‘to kerb-side’ only unless specifically arranged in advance (and may be subject to additional charge).
