Description

The Inchbald School of Design has ensured it has remained the pioneer in design qualifications by offering students their unique ‘Online’ Diploma Courses in both interior and garden design. This offers students the chance to study in their own time, working from home around family and other commitments. Both courses last three years with the option of a fast track study period of 27 months.
Inchbald Online is unlike any other correspondence course presently available. The courses provide a virtual classroom, delivering self study modules in text and images designed with 14 hours of study per week for the fast-track course, comprising 40 weeks a year. The courses are illustrated by both online and offline activities and assessed by a series of stimulating knowledge tests and formal design projects. There is weekly feedback and one-one consultation from the tutor. Students must complete three modules per year.
Each student is assigned an Inchbald tutor and classes are limited to a maximum of 21 students. The tutor is always on hand to monitor and guide their protégés, offering both formal assessment and informal support via online discussion forums. Students are actively encouraged to interact with other students via the virtual chatroom. Given the international reach of the course this will be an invaluable forum for cultural exchange. The course is geared towards being extremely vocational and it is hoped that graduates will go onto a successful career in design, working in designers’ studios, architectural practices, as interior design consultants or as garden designers in a similar capacity.
Founded by Jacqueline Duncan in 1960, Inchbald was the first interior design school in Europe. The Garden School was founded in 1972; the first dedicated garden school in the world. The Online course reinforces the school’s history of continually setting benchmarks in world class educational standards.
Mrs. Duncan comments on the courses “We have a variety of courses on offer providing garden design skills which are highly regarded by professionals in the industry. Our online courses are a superb way for students to gain qualifications in their own time and the part-time courses give the added option of flexibility to suit different lifestyles.”
All Inchbald tutors are respected industry figures and truly inspirational teachers and mentors. The courses have been masterminded by Jill Georgalakis who directs the Diploma courses. Inchbald’s alumni include revered industry names such as Zaha Hadid, Henrietta Spencer Churchill, Stephen Ryan, Diana Yakeley, Christophe Gollut, Luciano Giubellei, Jonathan Craggs and Zeynep Fadillioglu.
