Horse Poo

Horse Poo
Description
I am very lucky to have a neighbour “Horse shit Sally” who delivers horse poo to my garden weekly.

I was over on her meadow and she was commenting about how difficult it was to get rid of her horse poo.

I thought about this and suggested she dumped it on my garden 1 km away. She pondered and took up the offer. Over the years I have used suitable canes/cuttings from an over grown  hedging to create three bays large enough for reversing the trailer in.  I have even used slabs to reinforce the interface between the bays and the bay.

As the poo is picked off a meadow rather than a stable’s output it has no urine in and thus can be used immediately and not left 18 months to rot. It obviously has no straw in and appears like brown gold.

Unfortunately it is all on the eastern end if the garden with the drive, so my young man, with wheel barrow, has a long way to go to 200 trees 50 m away. Luckily I have a farmer friend who has a small tractor with bucket who kindly shifts it to the western trees.

In the meanwhile, during the dire weather all the trees and bushes on the eastern side have their 1 m2 coat and look very neat for it.
