Gardening for the time of your life..................

The Hillier exhibit for Chelsea 2009 plots the journey through the Seven Ages of the British Gardener from the starter home and garden at First Base all the way through to the final resting place in Pushing up the Daisies!

The journey takes us through the practicalities of Surviving Suburbia to educational but attractive ideas in  Coping with Kids and then on to the sheer indulgence of rich, deep borders in Grand Designs before Losing the Plot, as our gardener downsizes and creates a beautiful, but lower maintenance planting scheme.

Andrew McIndoe’s design at the heart of Chelsea’s Great Pavilion weaves all five stages of our gardener’s life together in a tapestry of colour and texture. Each and every step of the gardening life will be packed with great
fail-safe planting recommendations and fantastic design ideas.

Red, white, blue and very green……

Chelsea 2009 is set to be ‘A Celebration of British Horticulture’, and Hillier are proud to have been at the forefront of British gardening for the past 145 years, producing Great Garden plants for Great British gardens.
Founded in 1864 by Edwin Hillier, the nursery continued to be family-run for four generations, introducing over 230 new plants and expanding to become the largest producer of hardy plants and trees in the UK and one of the most respected institutions in the industry. Hillier have exhibited at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show since its inception, and have won 63 consecutive RHS Chelsea Gold medals to date, a Guinness World Record.
