Creative Pond Covers is a family run business offering a unique solution to the problems of pond safety for children and protection against heron attack for fish.

Child Safety Covers   

We are very concerned about pond safety and our pond covers make it possible to have a safe and attractive pond.

There are various types of child safety covers available from Creative Pond Covers:

  • Bespoke covers for existing or new ponds
  • New ponds - our fibreglass liners complete with covers 
Bespoke Covers
Bespoke covers are suitable for any existing or new ponds, please browse through our child safety portfolio for more information on commissioning a bespoke cover.

New Ponds
If you are considering a new pond we have complete child safe ponds available consisting of a fibreglass liner with a bolt on cover.  

Pond Safety
Any parent of young children is aware of the potential dangers of water in the garden.  Even the shallowest of ponds can be lethal. 

According to the ROSPA website 111 children under the age of five have drowned during the last decade, within the space of a few minutes of the supervising adult being momentarily distracted.

ROSPA  advise parents to temporarily fill in ponds or use a rigid mesh or grille to create a secure cover.

There are various products available to cover ponds in this way, but we think most of them are ungainly and unattractive. 

Our pond covers provide a way to have a safe and attractive pond - to share the fascination of water and the wildlife it contains and attracts with your children or grandchildren.

Heron Prevention Covers

Heron attacks on garden ponds can be traumatic for fish keepers, not to mention the expense of restocking - we take heron prevention seriously and have designed a number of bespoke covers to provide heron proofing!

Herons are beautiful and fascinating creatures, but are less popular with fish keepers as they are so fond of fishing in garden ponds.

Herons do return to places where they have fished before, so many people have been caught out when they have restocked after a heron's visit.

There are various methods of deterring herons, some more successful than others.

Our heron proof pond covers are designed to ensure that herons cannot physically get into the pond! 

If your problem is local cats, or other predators, we can adapt the design to solve it.

Covers for Schools

We are keen to work with schools with our practical solution to the problem of covering ponds in wildlife gardens.

Our covers provide excellent access for pond dipping and unlike flat grills there is no danger of children getting trapped underneath the covers.  Children cannot walk on the covers and if unruly behaviour should occur the covers are strong enough to withstand it!

We are happy to work with children on the design as part of the process if this is required.

Covers for Art 

Creative Pond Covers are designed to be more than just a functional solution to a problem - each cover is a piece of art in its own right.
Inspiration is taken from the pond or its surroundings, or something the owner is interested in, to make the cover personal.

Attention is paid to the reflections that will be created, the look of the cover from all parts of the garden, particularly seating areas and views from the house and to creative night time lighting.

Dave Howorth has always had a fascination with nature, form and functionality.  Inspiration for the pond covers came with the birth of his son.  Dave wanted to share his interest in aquatic life and has always felt that the garden pond is a vital wildlife habitat - but was concerned about the safety aspects for a young child.  As ever, Dave rose to the challenge to produce this wonderfully creative and totally practical solution.
